The growing importance of social and environmental considerations in the business landscape has led to an increased regulatory focus in recent years. In 2022, the European Union (EU) proposed a Directive on Corporate Sustainability, highlighting the need for businesses to prioritise sustainable practices. Additionally, starting from January 2023, the German Supply Chain Act has officially come into effect, holding German companies accountable for upholding social and environmental standards within their supply chains.
This article aims to provide insights on how EU companies and their Chinese suppliers can effectively prepare for and respond to these regulatory updates.
